Job description:
Our client is currently recruiting for an Environment Manager to provide technical and strategic advice in relation to offshore and onshore environmental issues related to Offshore Wind Farm Development. The successful applicants will report to the Environment Manager, work closely with the rest of the project team and relevant project manager(s) to ensure that projects are designed and delivered responsibly and with minimum impact for the environment or stakeholders, on time and on budget. This position will play an important role in helping the offshore team to understand and mitigate site-specific risks and to accelerate and maximise value from Smart Wind’s projects. Applications from those with experience of using GIS are particularly welcomed.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
Key responsibilities are to support the Environment Manager and will include, but not be restricted to:
- Providing technical and strategic advice in relation to offshore environmental, planning and stakeholder issues
- Assisting with the management/oversight of EIA scoping and implementation, of compilation and submission of planning applications, and of discharge of environmental planning conditions
- Assisting with the management of specialist consultants and advisors including determination of scopes of work, contractor appointment and interpretation of advice received
- Supporting liaison with stakeholders and regulators throughout development phase and beyond
- Liaising with partners and other colleagues (e.g. in finance, engineering, H&S) to ensure projects are designed and developed to be practical, efficient and safe, that EIAs and consent applications are adequately scoped and that all consents received are fit for purpose
- Responsible for delivering environmental programme on budget
- Understanding, promotion and adherence to all relevant health and safety regulations and policies in undertaking all activities
- Responding to consultations and contributing to external studies/research as appropriate
- Informing colleagues about relevant legislation, guidance and associated implications in relation to environmental issues affecting offshore development interests
- As required, develop specialist knowledge in aspects of the human, biological or physical environment to contribute to a well rounded offshore environment team at Mainstream.
