Job description:

Role: Design Manager

 

Our client is a leading Bio-Energy company operating in the UK and Europe.

 

Our Bio-Energy division designs, builds and operates turnkey biomass energy solutions and Anaerobic Digestion solutions for our clients who are large industrial and commercial businesses, construction companies, hotels, hospitals, offices and government departments. Our Environmental Division recycles 80,000 tonnes of organic waste products for our clients who are large industrial and municipalities.

 

We are looking to hire a Design Manager to lead our growing Design team. This is a great opportunity for a highly technical engineer to become a world class technical leader in the rapidly growing biomass energy sector.

Responsibilities:

 

This position reports into the Manager of the Bio-Energy Division.

 

The position will be based in the UK and will involve considerable nationwide travel

 

Specifically, the successful candidate will:

-       Build a high level of engineering solution design expertise within the team and the business for Bioenergy installations

-       Develop an engineering design centre of excellence within company for Bioenergy installations

-       Conduct detailed design exercises for Bioenergy projects

-       Support the business development efforts by delivering the design and technical input to tenders for biomass heating and power installations, district heating and other bio-energy projects

-       Be responsible for finalising pricing on complex projects from €100k to €10m.

-       Manage the operations of some of the Bioenergy installations

-       Run the services part of the business which includes a remote monitoring services of existing installations with alerts provided to field staff when required.

-       Engage in various other office based projects

Profile and likely background:

 

The successful candidate is likely to have the following profile:

-       Mechanical Engineering degree/diploma from a leading college or university, 2:1 degree or better

-       At least 1-4 years experience in designing mechanical and electrical systems, preferably in the Bio-energy space

-       A background in renewable energy, boilers or HEVAC would be an advantage but is not essential

-       Excellent proficiency with CAD packages

-       Full driving licence

-       Dynamic and flexible, can do attitude: able to travel 2-3 days per week

-       Ambitious, comfortable with meeting tight deadlines. Real drive

 

 

Salary: an attractive salary commensurate with experience is offered plus laptop, mobile phone, training and 4 weeks annual leave.
